OUR HISTORY
True Hospitality is the Independent branch of Eatz Enterprizes
We have a rich history in the hospitality industry - below is our story of where we started,
how we have grown and where we are today
Eatz Enterprises – The Beginning
Darin Amies and Brad Houghton had each managed different independent restaurant concepts across Canada from Alberta to Montreal before they both landed at Westco Restaurants in Calgary, Alberta in 1990. At the time, Westco operated a large number of fast food locations as well as Maxwell Taylors restaurants, Cheese Cake Café, Bakerstreet Grill and two new Moxie’s Restaurants, a brand which would soon become one of the largest 100% Canadian owned concepts in the country.
The two worked together at Westco at a number of locations and through a number of new openings and when the opportunity became available to purchase a franchise of the Moxie’s brand, they were both excited at the opportunity. Just one problem, neither had much money. Over a number of months, a number of meetings and a lot of begging and borrowing, they were able to pool their resources and fund their first store. In November of 1993 they opened Moxie’s at St. Vital Centre in Winnipeg. It was the beginning of a friendship and partnership that has lasted over 30 years and still runs strong today.
“Brad and I were young guys with common goals, both loved the energy of the restaurant business and really didn’t want to, or honestly know how to, do anything else. So what do you do? Build aggressively!” DA.
A lot of long shifts, a lot of days on the road, a lot of motels, a lot of construction, a lot of deadlines, a lof of tough days and a lot of amazing days and from 1993 to 2023, the partners and their team have developed 30 restaurants across Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Texas, Florida, Arizona…..
One of our greatest strengths has always been in attracting, developing and supporting strong leaders….

The restaurant and hospitality business is one that demands attention at every level, every day and we’ve proven that our team can be successful in numerous concepts.
